U.S. Indo-Pacific Command Reuses Original Name Pacific Command
Xinhua News Agency, Washington, June 16 - The U.S. Department of Defense announced on the 16th that the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command will officially revert to its original name, the U.S. Pacific Command.
The Department of Defense stated in a release that the so-called area of responsibility for the command remains unchanged, extending from the coastal waters of the U.S. West Coast to the western border of India.
The U.S. Pacific Command was established on January 1, 1947, and operated under that name for more than 70 years before being renamed the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command in 2018.
