U.S. Marines to use Accrete’s Argus AI for information ops

The U.S. Marine Corps has awarded Accrete a contract to deliver an artificial intelligence platform designed to track and analyze narratives across social media, broadcast outlets, and messaging platforms in near real time.

The contract covers Argus for Cognitive Advantage, a system built on Accrete’s Knowledge Engine platform. Accrete describes Knowledge Engines as tools that convert the expertise of experienced analysts into AI agents capable of surfacing relevant information across large volumes of open-source data. The company did not disclose the contract’s dollar value or duration.

Argus for Cognitive Advantage pulls from open-source intelligence, the open web, social media, broadcast media, messaging platforms, and foreign-language outlets, according to Accrete. The company said the system can process hours of video content in minutes, transcribing and translating speech, identifying objects and scene content, and inferring location details, including from video in languages the analyst does not read.

The platform includes several component tools, Accrete said. A narrative intelligence function tracks how conversations evolve and spread using stance detection and predictive simulation. A separate audience simulation tool models how different audience segments might react to a message before it is released. The system also generates automated measures of effectiveness intended to quantify mission outcomes, and includes a chat interface, called Argus Chat, that lets analysts query data using plain language.

Accrete said the platform draws on content from Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Reddit, Telegram, Weibo, and VKontakte, with real-time translation and transcription across 243 languages. The company said every inference the system produces is traceable to its source, within what it described as auditable, accreditation-ready boundaries.

“Cognitive advantage is a warfighting requirement, not a support function, and this award reflects the Marine Corps’ clear recognition of that,” said Bill Wall, CEO of Accrete AI Government.

“Furthermore, this sole-source award demonstrates the trust Accrete has built across the Department of War services. Accrete is proud to expand its reach within the Department of War by supporting the U.S. Marine Corps.”

Accrete first deployed the Argus platform with the Department of War in 2022. The company won a multi-million dollar contract from the U.S. Army in 2024 to develop the technology further for Army information operations. Argus for Cognitive Advantage was also selected for a 2025 AFWERX STRATFI award, a Department of War funding mechanism intended to move technology from prototype to operational use.

“Knowledge Engines are dynamic context recorders, and the advantage begins the moment an organization presses record,” said Prashant Bhuyan, founder, CEO, and chairman of Accrete.

“The most valuable context in any institution is the know-how trapped in the heads of its best people. Organizations that never capture it are ceding compounding advantage to adversaries and competitors that do. Argus for Cognitive Advantage is one of the most sophisticated applications of the Knowledge Engine platform, and Accrete is proud to extend it to the Marine Corps as it counters adversaries operating against the United States every day through digital channels.”

Accrete’s announcement frames the tool as a response to adversaries operating below the threshold of armed conflict, using coordinated narratives, synthetic media, and inauthentic social media activity to shape public perception. The company said this kind of information competition moves faster than human analysts working through open-source material by hand.
