U.S. Media Claims Iran's Military Capability Reconstruction Speed Exceeds Expectations

On May 21, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington that CNN cited sources saying that Iran has restarted some drone production in the past six weeks. Intelligence indicates that the pace of Iran's military capability reconstruction is far exceeding expectations. The strikes initiated by the United States and Israel "have weakened Iran's military capabilities but have not destroyed them."

The report states that Iran's military capability reconstruction includes replacing damaged missile launch sites, launch systems, and restoring production capacity for key weapon systems. U.S. government officials have stated that although there are differences in the timing of the resumption of production for various weapon components, intelligence shows that Iran could fully restore its drone attack capabilities within six months at the earliest. This official noted that Iran's reconstruction speed "has exceeded all timelines set by intelligence."

The report also mentions that according to recent U.S. intelligence assessments, despite suffering severe damage from U.S. and Israeli strikes, Iran still possesses ballistic missiles, drone attack capabilities, and air defense capabilities, which means that its military production capacity is being rapidly rebuilt "not from scratch." In response, a spokesperson for U.S. Central Command declined to comment.

The report further indicates that intelligence also shows that most of Iran's coastal defense cruise missiles remain intact, which is consistent with the fact that the U.S. did not focus airstrikes on coastal military assets.
