U.S. Military Claims 5-Hour Strike Against Iran
On July 20, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington that the U.S. Central Command stated on social media that the U.S. military has completed a new round of strikes against Iran at 9 PM Eastern Time on the 20th (9 AM Beijing Time on the 21st). This round of strikes lasted approximately 5 hours.
The statement said that the U.S. military's military actions targeted Iran's military command centers, maritime combat capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems, in order to "weaken Iran's ongoing ability to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz."
The statement noted that commercial vessels continue to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Since early May, the U.S. military has "assisted approximately 900 commercial vessels and 450 million barrels of crude oil to transit through the area."
