U.S. Military Claims to Intercept Iranian Missiles and Drones, Denies Damage to Fifth Fleet Headquarters

On June 5, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington that the U.S. Central Command stated that U.S. forces intercepted multiple ballistic missiles and drones launched by Iran towards the Strait of Hormuz and neighboring Gulf countries. There are currently no reports of U.S. personnel being injured, and Iran's claims of damaging the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain are false.

The statement said that hours after U.S. forces shot down four Iranian attack drones launched towards the Strait of Hormuz, Iran launched seven ballistic missiles at Kuwait and Bahrain. Initial assessments indicate that six of the missiles launched by Iran were successfully intercepted, while the seventh failed to reach its intended target.

The statement noted that there are currently no reports of U.S. personnel being injured, and Iran's claims regarding the damage to the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain are false. The U.S. Central Command remains on high alert and is prepared to respond.

Air defense alarms were sounded in Kuwait and Bahrain in the early hours of June 6 local time. According to Iranian media reports, the public relations department of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a statement that following U.S. airstrikes in parts of Iran, Iran launched missile attacks on the U.S. airbase in Kuwait and the U.S. Fifth Fleet facilities in Bahrain.
