U.S. Military Denies Its Naval Vessels Were Attacked by Iran
On September 9, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington that the U.S. Central Command stated on social media that the claims made by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps regarding attacks on two U.S. Navy vessels operating in the Middle East are false, and that no U.S. Navy ships have been attacked.
The U.S. Central Command also stated that U.S. forces destroyed 10 Iranian oil tankers in the past week. These vessels are part of a network that funds the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
On September 9, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a statement claiming that in response to U.S. attacks on Iranian oil tankers in the Persian Gulf, the Revolutionary Guard conducted strikes on two U.S. warships and eight oil tankers that day, as well as strikes on 10 violating vessels.
