According to a report by the Axios news website on May 27, a senior U.S. official stated that Iran launched four one-way attack drones at a U.S. commercial ship, "the U.S. military shot down these drones and attacked them before another ground drone launch unit could fire."

Earlier, CNN reported, citing a U.S. official, that on May 27, Eastern Time, the U.S. military conducted new airstrikes in Iran, targeting "a location that poses a threat to U.S. forces and commercial shipping." The U.S. military also intercepted several drones launched from Iran.

According to Iran's Fars News Agency, around 1:30 a.m. local time on the 28th, three explosions were heard east of the southern Iranian city of Abadan. At the same time, the air defense system at Abadan was activated and fired for several minutes.
