Xinhua News Agency, Washington, September 4 (Reporter Huang Qiang, Xu Jianmei) - The U.S. State Department issued a statement on the 4th, saying it has approved the sale of related military equipment to Saudi Arabia and Oman, with the arms sale amounts expected to be $5.75 billion and $188 million, respectively.

The statement said that the arms sale to Saudi Arabia includes 5,004 units of 500-pound bombs, 5,000 units of 2,000-pound bombs, and corresponding ammunition guidance components, with an expected amount of $5 billion; and 60 engines for use in M1 Abrams main battle tanks, with an expected amount of $750 million.

The State Department also approved the sale of F-16 fighter jet support services and related equipment to Oman.

According to U.S. media reports, the aforementioned foreign military sales also require approval from the U.S. Congress.
