The U.S. State Department stated in a press release that the main contractor for this arms sale is Bell Helicopter Textron, based in Fort Worth, Texas, which plans to sell Bell 412EPX helicopters, Bell 407M helicopters, and other equipment to Iraq, along with corresponding logistics and support.
The statement said that the Iraqi government requested the purchase of helicopters, machine gun mounts, rocket launchers, and various other equipment. This arms sale will enhance the Iraqi military's capabilities in rotorcraft transport, reconnaissance, and strike against ground targets, helping Iraq address current and future security threats.
