Video: "Tactics + Precision" Live Fire Assessment of Pilot Combat Capability

Recently, a flight regiment of the Naval Aviation University conducted a live-fire strike assessment against ground targets, relying on a dual-dimensional comprehensive evaluation system of "tactical conditions" and "hit accuracy" to test the pilots' full-process combat capabilities from flight theory application, tactical planning to live-fire attacks and safety handling.

During the assessment, pilots flew their aircraft in succession to conduct live-fire strikes on ground targets. Unlike previous assessments that only tested hit accuracy, this time the evaluation included attack routes, attack angles, attack methods, and exit timing as part of the criteria. Each dive and each shot by the aircraft had to be chosen and adjusted based on the actual combat scenario.

Naval Aviation University Zhang Yao: Hitting accurately is our basic skill, but in a complex battlefield environment, ammunition management and enemy situation will greatly affect the progress of operations. Each flight in this competition was carefully designed with matching combat scenarios, and I will use different flight paths, different munitions, and different attack angles to achieve the desired effects on designated targets based on the latest battlefield developments and conditions.

Based on the flight footage from the drones and the actual conditions in the target area, the system evaluates the performance of each element of the pilots and automatically compiles scores.

Naval Aviation University Yang Jiabo: Now we are using drones to create a 360° network over the target area, combined with ground monitoring, to record the entire process in three dimensions, with data being transmitted in real-time, and the system automatically calculating without any room for human intervention. The goal is to ensure that the metrics of realistic training completely align with the metrics of the battlefield.

This dual-dimensional evaluation system of "tactics" plus "accuracy" will cultivate more high-quality flight personnel in the naval aviation forces who understand tactics, possess refined skills, and are capable of combat.
