Xinhua News Agency, Kuwait City, October 4 (Reporter Yin Zhao) Aden news: Rashad Alimi, chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen, announced on October 4 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, the launch of military operations to reclaim areas recently controlled by the Houthi armed forces.
In a televised speech from Riyadh on the same day, Alimi stated that after weeks of military mobilization, the Yemeni government has officially launched a large-scale military operation to reclaim areas recently controlled by the Houthi armed forces. He has ordered the armed forces, security departments, and allied military forces to begin executing the combat plan.
He stated that the mission of this operation is "not only to reclaim lost territory but also to restore the nation." He also mentioned that amnesty would be granted to Houthi fighters who lay down their weapons and cease fighting.
A local official from the Yemeni government told Xinhua that the Houthi armed forces controlled several important areas in the southwestern Taiz province on October 4, including a major highway connecting Taiz province with the neighboring Lahij province and the southern port city of Aden. Residents of Taiz province reported that thousands of people have been displaced in the frontline areas of the province.
Recently, the Houthi armed forces have intensified their offensive against government troops, capturing strategic locations such as the port city of Mocha and Perlin Island. The Yemeni government stated on September 11 that the Houthi armed forces have taken control of the entire western coast of the country and have pushed their offensive into the southern Lahij province.
