Zelensky says Ukraine is facing a new wave of Russian airstrikes

On February 7, Xinhua News Agency reported from Kyiv (Reporter Li Dongxu) that Ukrainian President Zelensky stated that on the same day, the Russian military launched a new round of airstrikes against Ukraine using more than 400 drones and nearly 40 missiles, and rescue and repair work is ongoing. He said that Ukraine urgently needs air defense missiles.

Zelensky posted on social media that Russia could have chosen "real diplomatic means," but instead launched new attacks. The main targets of the Russian airstrikes are Ukraine's power grid, power generation facilities, and substations. Relevant facilities in western Ukraine's Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv regions were damaged. Vinnytsia, Kharkiv, and Kyiv regions also came under attack. Air defense operations are still ongoing in some regions.

The Ukrainian Air Force stated on social media on the morning of the 7th that from the evening of the 6th to the early morning of the 7th, the Russian military carried out a large-scale airstrike on Ukraine's critical infrastructure using 39 missiles, including two "Zircon" hypersonic missiles, and 408 drones. The Ukrainian National Power Company and Ukraine's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Shmyhal also stated that Russia launched a new round of large-scale attacks on Ukraine's energy facilities that day. Emergency rolling blackouts are being implemented nationwide in Ukraine.
