Zhang Shengmin Meets with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense
Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission Zhang Shengmin met with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang in Beijing on the 16th.
Zhang Shengmin stated that both China and Vietnam are socialist countries led by the Communist Party, sharing a close friendship characterized as "comrades and brothers." General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Nguyen Phu Trong have elevated bilateral relations to a higher level with strategic significance, effectively guiding China-Vietnam relations to forge ahead on the correct path. The two sides successfully held the first ministerial meeting of the "3+3" strategic dialogue mechanism on diplomacy, defense, and public security, which has played an irreplaceable role in deepening political mutual trust, integrating cooperation in the three major areas, and maintaining security in the political domain. We should focus on implementing the important consensus of the top leaders of both parties and countries, adhere to a strategic perspective, and promote practical cooperation between the two militaries, share experiences in military construction and development, coordinate positions and collaborate on important security issues in a timely manner, jointly address global challenges, and continuously elevate our cooperation to new heights.
Phan Van Giang congratulated the successful holding of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum. He expressed that the Vietnamese side always remembers the valuable support and assistance that China has provided for Vietnam's national independence, national unification, and socialist construction. Vietnam firmly regards the development of relations with China as an objective necessity, strategic choice, and top priority in its diplomacy, and is willing to carry out more pragmatic and effective defense and security cooperation with China in accordance with the strategic guidance of the top leaders of both parties and countries, making greater contributions to promoting the construction of the Vietnam-China community of shared destiny.
