Afghanistan and Pakistan Announce Ceasefire During Eid al-Fitr
Xinhua News Agency, Kabul, March 19 (Reporter Zhang Yibin, Xu Shu'ao) - Afghan government spokesman Mujahid stated on social media on the evening of the 18th that the Afghan government has suspended military operations against Pakistan during the Eid al-Fitr. On the same day, Pakistan's Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ataullah Tarar, also announced on social media that Pakistan would cease attacks on Afghanistan during Eid al-Fitr.
From the night of February 26 to the early morning of the 27th, gunfire occurred in the border areas between Afghanistan and Pakistan, after which tensions between the two countries escalated rapidly.
Eid al-Fitr in Afghanistan begins on the 19th, while Pakistan's Eid al-Fitr is expected to start on the 21st. Traditionally, Eid al-Fitr lasts for three days. Tarar stated that Pakistan has already ceased fire starting from midnight on the 18th.
