What the Combination Means for the Taiwan Strait and Far Sea Groupings

If the combination of the Sichuan and Attack-21 proves successful, the PLA Navy will gain a very practical intermediate capability: it will not have to push the most expensive aircraft carrier formations to the front lines, while still allowing amphibious groupings to carry a certain level of reconnaissance, electronic suppression, and first-strike capabilities.
