Dong Jun and Guests Attend Talks at the Beijing Xiangshan Forum
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, September 15 (Reporter Mei Changwei) - On the 15th, Defense Minister Dong Jun held talks in Beijing with Myanmar's Defense Minister Tun Aung, ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hong, Brunei's Minister of Defense Halbi, Belarus's Defense Minister Khrenin, Azerbaijan's Defense Minister Hasanov, Kyrgyzstan's Defense Minister Mukambetov, and Armenia's Defense Minister Papikyan, who attended the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum.
Dong Jun welcomed everyone to the Beijing Xiangshan Forum. He stated that over the past 20 years since its establishment, the forum has always adhered to the principles of equality, openness, inclusiveness, and mutual learning, focusing on solving problems and contributing wisdom and ideas for peace and cooperation, continuously contributing to global common security. Currently, the international situation is characterized by intertwined chaos, with increasing instability and uncertainty, making partners who engage sincerely and with goodwill even more precious. The Chinese military is willing to work with all parties to implement the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind and the four global initiatives, continuously deepening practical cooperation, jointly addressing global security challenges, and firmly safeguarding world and regional peace and stability.
Tun Aung expressed that Myanmar is willing to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen practical exchanges and cooperation between the two militaries, maintain peace and stability in border areas, and promote the deep and practical construction of the China-Myanmar community of shared destiny.
Kao Kim Hong congratulated the Beijing Xiangshan Forum on its 20th anniversary, reaffirming ASEAN's firm adherence to the One China policy, always viewing China as an important contributor to regional peace, stability, and development, and expressing willingness to work with China to achieve more results in defense exchanges and cooperation.
Halbi stated that military relations are an important pillar of bilateral relations, and Brunei is willing to deepen practical cooperation with China in various fields such as personnel training and group visits, and strengthen coordination and cooperation under multilateral frameworks to jointly maintain regional peace and prosperity.
Khrenin noted that the Beijing Xiangshan Forum has become an important platform for international security and defense dialogue. Belarus is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China in areas such as joint training and military education, injecting new connotations into the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Hasanov mentioned that Azerbaijan has always regarded China as a reliable partner and is willing to continue mutual support with China on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, further exploring new prospects for defense and security cooperation between Azerbaijan and China.
Mukambetov stated that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to developing relations with China and is willing to work with China to expand practical cooperation in various fields, including defense and security, along the direction guided by the leaders of the two countries, continuously enhancing the level of relations between the two countries and their militaries.
Papikyan expressed that the strategic partnership between Armenia and China brings new opportunities for military cooperation, and Armenia is willing to expand new cooperation space with China in areas such as mutual visits and personnel training, exploring new directions for cooperation to better benefit the people of both countries.
