Xinhua News Agency, Jerusalem, June 3 (Reporters Wang Zhuolun and Pang Xinyi) The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement on the 3rd, saying that the military conducted an airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip on the 2nd, killing a leader of a rocket-launching team from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (Jihad).

The statement identified the killed militant as Ahmad Abu Mughaiseeb, who was involved in planning attacks against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians, and was suspected of participating in smuggling into the Gaza Strip.

The statement also mentioned that the IDF conducted airstrikes that night in central Gaza Strip against several militants from the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), killing one of them. The IDF stated that these individuals were planning attacks and posed a "direct threat" to the military.

The IDF stated that its Southern Command forces are still deployed in the relevant areas according to the ceasefire agreement and will continue to take action to eliminate any "immediate threats."
