Maritime Analysis Company: Iran May Be Escorting Vessels with Speedboats
On May 10, Xinhua News Agency reported from London (Reporter Gao Wencheng) that the UK-based Windward Maritime Analysis Company stated on social media that, based on satellite imagery and other multi-source information analysis, a bulk carrier was sailing in the Strait of Hormuz when a formation of high-speed boats was observed in its vicinity, which is believed to be under escort.
The company noted that although the transparency of the vessel automatic identification system information in the Strait of Hormuz has approached "zero," monitoring through multi-source information revealed multiple groups of high-speed boat activities in the strait and surrounding waters on May 9.
Monitoring also found that on that day, six vessels passed through the strait into the Persian Gulf, including two very large crude carriers, two bulk carriers, and two tankers, while another very large crude carrier exited the Persian Gulf.
The Financial Times reported on the 9th that Iran has hundreds of fast attack boats deployed in concealed locations throughout the Gulf region and maintains mobility around the Strait of Hormuz, allowing for rapid assembly upon receiving orders.
