Xinhua News Agency, Guangzhou, April 15 (Li Bingxuan, He Yuemin) - A naval formation consisting of the Russian Navy's "Perfect" frigate, "Severe" frigate, and "Pechenega" medium oil tanker arrived in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, on the morning of the 15th, beginning a five-day friendly visit.
At around 9 a.m., under the guidance of the Chinese Navy's Chenzhou ship, the Russian naval formation, flying the flags of both China and Russia, slowly docked at a military port in Zhanjiang. A welcome ceremony was held by the Chinese side at the dock.
During the visit, the commander of the Russian formation will meet with officials from the Southern Theater Command Navy and the Zhanjiang Municipal Government. Naval officers and soldiers from both China and Russia will visit each other's ships and engage in activities such as deck receptions, professional exchanges, and sports competitions.
The visiting Russian naval vessels are all part of the Russian Navy's Pacific Fleet and have participated in various Sino-Russian naval cooperation and exchange activities. The "Perfect" frigate has participated in Sino-Russian joint maritime patrols multiple times and visited Shanghai in 2023. The "Severe" frigate took part in the Sino-Russian "Maritime Joint-2024" joint exercise. The "Pechenega" medium oil tanker visited Qingdao in 2024.
This visit is a routine friendly exchange activity between the navies of China and Russia, aimed at further enhancing friendship and mutual trust, deepening practical cooperation, and is not aimed at any third party, nor is it related to the current international and regional situation.
