Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation Cargo Ship Attacked by Ukrainian Drone
On August 1, Xinhua News Agency reported from Moscow (Reporter Huang He) that Alexey Likhachev, CEO of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation, confirmed that a cargo ship belonging to its Far East Shipping Company was attacked by drones from the Ukrainian armed forces in the northeastern waters of the Black Sea.
According to a statement from the press service of the Russian Atomic Energy Corporation, on the night of July 31 to the early morning of August 1, a ship named "Yanina" sank after being attacked by two Ukrainian drones 130 nautical miles from the Russian port of Novorossiysk, with all 17 crew members rescued.
Likhachev stated that the ship was transporting civilian goods such as frozen food and construction materials and was navigating in international waters at the time of the attack. He described such attacks as "pirate acts."
