Xinhua News Agency, Cairo, July 9 (Reporter Xu Haofu) - A source from the Egyptian security department told Xinhua reporters on the 9th that a delegation from the leadership of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) held talks with Egyptian officials in the capital Cairo that day, focusing on discussing the implementation of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

The unnamed source said that the delegation, composed of senior Hamas officials, confirmed during the talks that they would transfer administrative control of the Gaza Strip to the Gaza National Administrative Council and agreed to hand over weapons to the council for safekeeping. The Hamas delegation also expressed their willingness to facilitate the work of peacekeeping forces and the Gaza National Administrative Council to pave the way for the implementation of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

The source also revealed that the mediators of the Gaza ceasefire have received a proposal from the so-called "Peace Committee" initiated by the United States, which involves establishing a pilot area in the southern Gaza city of Rafah. This area could accommodate tens of thousands of residents after being security screened by the Gaza National Administrative Council.

The media office of the Gaza Strip government controlled by Hamas announced on the 6th the dissolution of the emergency committee operating in the Gaza Strip, in preparation for transferring administrative control of the Gaza Strip to the Gaza National Administrative Council.
