Strong Explosions Heard in Ukraine's Capital Kyiv
Xinhua News Agency, Kyiv, September 17 (Reporter Li Dongxu) At 2:13 to 2:20 a.m. local time on the 17th, Xinhua reporters heard two rounds of intense explosions in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv. The Ukrainian Air Force stated on social media that air raid alerts were issued across the country as Russian troops launched multiple missiles towards Kyiv.
On the same day, from 2:03 to 2:24 a.m., the Ukrainian Air Force issued several air raid warning messages, stating that Russian MiG-31 fighter jets took off and launched multiple missiles, which were moving from Sumy Oblast and Chernihiv Oblast towards Kyiv Oblast and the city of Kyiv.
At around 2:20 a.m., Xinhua reporters observed thick smoke rising from multiple locations in the Dnipro district of Kyiv after the attack.
Ukrainian citizens posted on social media that the airstrikes caused water supply interruptions in some areas of the city of Kyiv.
