The bodies of two missing U.S. soldiers in Morocco have been found.
On May 13, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington (reporters Huang Qiang and Xu Jianmei) that the U.S. Africa Command announced that the body of another U.S. soldier who went missing during military exercises in Morocco earlier this month has been found. With this, the bodies of both U.S. soldiers missing in this incident have been recovered.
The statement said that a joint search and rescue team composed of U.S. and Moroccan forces discovered the body of the 19-year-old soldier in a coastal cave on the 12th. A U.S. military aircraft is currently transporting the bodies of the two soldiers back to the United States.
Both U.S. servicemen were part of the U.S. forces participating in the "African Lion 2026" multinational military exercise and went missing near the Cape Draa training area on the 2nd. The U.S. Africa Command stated on the 10th that the body of one of the soldiers was found by the Moroccan military on the 9th.
