Light combat aircraft
Tejas is India's indigenous lightweight multi-role fighter aircraft and one of the country's most important aerospace programmes.
HAL Tejas is a single-engine light combat aircraft developed to replace older fighter types and strengthen India's domestic combat-aircraft ecosystem. Its role includes air defence, strike, reconnaissance, and training-related fleet tasks depending on variant and weapons fit. The programme is strategically important because fighter design involves aerodynamics, flight controls, avionics, weapons integration, and production maturity.
