Xinhua News Agency, Beirut/Jakarta, April 24 (Reporters Shen Feng, Zhang Yisheng) The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) issued a statement on the 24th, stating that an Indonesian peacekeeper who was injured in an explosion in southern Lebanon last month has died that day.

According to the statement from UNIFIL, 31-year-old Rico Pramudya was severely injured on the evening of March 29 due to an explosion of a projectile at a base in southern Lebanon, and he passed away on April 24 in a hospital in the capital Beirut.

The statement urged all parties to fulfill their obligations under international law to ensure the safety of UN personnel and their property. It pointed out that deliberate attacks against peacekeepers are a serious violation of international humanitarian law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, and may even constitute a war crime.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement on the 24th, expressing deep condolences for the Indonesian peacekeeper who died in Lebanon and strongly condemning the attacks by Israel.

The statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the peacekeeper was unfortunately killed after being severely injured by Israeli tank fire. So far, four Indonesian peacekeepers have sacrificed their lives in military operations launched by Israel.

The statement emphasized that attacks against UN peacekeepers are a serious violation of international law. Indonesia once again urged the United Nations to conduct a comprehensive, transparent, and accountable investigation to ascertain the facts and hold those responsible accountable.
