ASELSAN demonstrates integrated EW & ISR capabilities in live trials

Report Content

ASELSAN has successfully demonstrated the coordinated operation of three airborne electronic warfare and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems from Bayraktar TB2 UAVs, in a high-impact live demonstration with the participation of 15+ international defense delegations in Konya province.  The trials brought together electronic support, electronic attack and synthetic aperture radar capabilities in a single operational scenario, demonstrating how the systems can work together to detect, locate, engage and identify targets under real-world conditions.

The demonstration showcased the seamless performance of three key systems deployed on the Bayraktar TB2 UAV: ANTIDOT 2EA 200 Electronic Countermeasure (ECM) Pod, ANTIDOT 2ES 100 Electronic Support Measures (ESM) Pod, and the FULMAR 200 AESA Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Pod. In the first stage of the demo, ESM Pod detected and accurately geolocated a search radar emitter during a flight. The system then handed over target data to the ECM Pod, which executed a precision electronic attack. At a designated point, the attack was temporarily suspended to allow the target radar to reacquire and lock-on to the UAV. Once UAV is locked, the ECM system applied necessary DRFM based countermeasure techniques, successfully disrupting the track radar’s performance, as well.

In the second stage of the demo, the ESM Pod again detected and located the emitter, providing real-time situational awareness while FULMAR 200 SAR Pod generated high-resolution synthetic aperture radar imagery of the target area. The resulting imagery enabled detailed ground mapping, target identification and geolocating with meters-level accuracy, demonstrating the system’s suitability for day-and-night, all-weather ISR missions.

Together, the trials demonstrated an end-to-end operational cycle on UAVs, combining detection and localization, electronic attack and high-resolution imaging. The last stage of this combat proven operational concept, normally ends with designation of air defense systems via ASELFLIR 500 and destruction with a laser guided munition.  The demonstration highlighted the ability of ASELSAN’s airborne systems to deliver Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD) and Destruction of Enemy Air Defense (DEAD) capabilities through a single UAV platform for operations in i
