As the recently commissioned Type 075 amphibious assault ship, how large is the Hubei ship? A perspective to help you understand!

Next to the Hubei ship is a Type 072A landing ship, which is already classified as a large landing ship and is considered a "big guy" in the landing operation sequence. However, when placed alongside the Hubei ship, it instantly gives a sense of "a small witch meets a big witch."

First, comparing height, the island of the Hubei ship towers high, with a wide deck, significantly taller than the adjacent Type 072A landing ship.

Next, looking at width, the hull of the Type 072A landing ship can only reach the "waist" of the Hubei ship. In comparison, the Hubei ship displays its robust and imposing stature.

As an amphibious assault ship, the core strike capability of the Hubei ship is reflected in its carrying capacity, with the helicopters, landing equipment, and Marine Corps personnel it carries being its greatest "fist."

The Hubei ship can carry dozens of various helicopters, enabling rapid deployment of Marine Corps personnel and light equipment for day and night multidimensional landings.

In terms of flat landings, the dock chamber of the Hubei ship can accommodate multiple hovercraft, which are fast and highly adaptable, capable of landing in complex terrains such as shallow beaches and reefs.

Unlocking the amphibious combat strength of the Hubei ship

The design concept of the Hubei ship shares similarities with an aircraft carrier, also featuring a staggered island superstructure and a fully longitudinal flight deck.

Naval officer of the Hubei ship, Ran Weihong: Standing outside the bridge platform, one can clearly see the overall layout of the flight deck. From front to back, there are six takeoff and landing points. At the rear of the entire flight deck, there is also a point 7, which is a small helipad. This helipad is mainly used to support the takeoff and landing of drones.

Below the hangar are the vehicle storage and dock chamber, primarily used to store hovercraft, amphibious armored vehicles, tanks, and self-propelled howitzers.

When conducting landing delivery missions, the stern gate of the dock chamber opens, and the hovercraft will carry tanks and amphibious armored vehicles into the water for landing operations.

In addition, as a large combat platform, the Hubei ship is also equipped with self-defense weapons.

Distributed around the ship are numerous cannons and ship-to-air missile systems, forming a close-range defense perimeter that can intercept incoming targets at critical moments, providing the Hubei ship with an all-around defensive "umbrella."
