South Korea's KF-21 Fighter Jet Receives Airworthiness Certification
Reference News Network, June 18 According to Yonhap News Agency on June 16, South Korea's government weapons procurement agency announced on the 16th that the country's first domestically produced KF-21 fighter jet has received government flight safety certification.
The Defense Acquisition Program Administration stated that the KF-21 fighter jet completed a series of tests from April 2021 to 2026 and received airworthiness certification on the 15th.
A review committee from the agency determined that the KF-21 fighter jet has met all 745 requirements across 14 assessment areas, including electronic systems and aircraft structure.
South Korea plans to deliver 120 KF-21 fighter jets by 2032, with the first batch of 40 aircraft focused on air-to-air capabilities to be delivered by 2028, followed by 80 aircraft with air-to-ground and air-to-ship capabilities.
